APRA is seeking an experienced leader to head up our Insurance Risk team within the Governance, Operational and Insurance Risk branch of the Risk and Data Analytics division.
The Insurance Risk team provides specialist expertise and horizontal insights in partnership with APRA’s Supervision, and Policy and Advice divisions to identify, assess and recommend mitigation of risk in regulated entities, and to support prudential supervision. The team also provides expert advice to other stakeholders across APRA as part of the development of related policy.

This is an exciting opportunity in a diverse role where you will gain a unique perspective across the insurance industry, as you lead a team responsible for delivering specialist expertise and risk insights to internal and external stakeholders. You will also lead the assessment of key insurance risk industry practices, including on-site and off-site technical reviews, set the direction of the team, and develop the business plan while balancing competing demands.

This is a highly collaborative role, where you will engage with a wide range of teams and senior stakeholders across APRA, along with industry stakeholders and other agencies in Australia and abroad.

Careers at APRA are varied, rewarding and are grounded in a desire to support the community by delivering against APRA’s mandate. We’re also committed to supporting flexible working arrangements and creating an inclusive environment.

The ability to work stakeholders of all levels is crucial to success in the role. Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills are essential, along with excellent organisational, self and priority management skills, and a relevant tertiary qualification (actuarial qualifications would be well regarded, but are not required for the role).
