Technology Analyst Specialist
FICC Technology is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to be involved in various projects under the Capital Markets umbrella including regulatory projects. Regulatory projects include: FRTB, Volcker, Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR), H4, Reg W and Reg YY. The candidate will be actively involved during the project(s) and is accountable for collaborating with various teams such as: Front Office, Trade Floor Supervision, Market Risk, Global Middle Office, and Back Office to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design for new reporting/application features and functionality. Prior experience working in Capital Markets and strong data mining/querying skills are mandatory for the role. Excellent written and verbal communication is mandatory. The team operates in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. As a senior BA, leadership skills is essential and the candidate will need to be able to lead, manage and drive a given project/projects from inception to completion at this level.

Responsibilities :

Requirements Definition:

  • Understand problems and opportunities in the context of the business need and recommend technological solution(s) that enable the requestor to achieve their goals to complex problems
  • Take the lead to define and/or redefine needs and requirements of all project stakeholders
Testing Management:
  • Author and execute acceptance criteria to ensure that developed solutions implement defined requirements
  • Execute system integration testing (SIT) and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), and manage/track variances to resolution
Release Readiness:
  • Facilitate implementation of new reporting/functionality through training sessions, demos, and the development of appropriate end user and support team documentation
Production Support:
  • Address questions/issues that arise from reporting that has been deployed into the Production environment in prompt and timely manner
  • Continuously learn and make changes that improve personal and team effectiveness to be able to make sound and knowledgeable decisions
  • Assign, direct and guide team members to appropriate tasks in projects by assessment of strengths
  • Being directly accountable for results produced


Skill Set and Knowledge

Requirements Management:

  • Outstanding facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills with key stakeholders
  • Strong written/verbal/presentation/communication skills
  • Expert level experience in writing business requirements/technical specifications
  • Self-directed and able to work in an extremely fast paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Results-oriented with a proactive approach to resolving problems
  • Proven critical thinking ability
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Strong planning skills (resource, strategy, business)
  • Strong multi-tasking skills covering a wide range of challenges which are independent and distinct
  • Must be knowledgeable of Software Development Lifecycle process
  • Strong data mining skills
  • Nice to have: project management experience
  • Must understand products - OTC and Listed derivatives, Cash products such as debt and equity
  • Good to know business processes supporting trading - Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk
  • Advantage to have experience in any systems that BMO uses, e.g. Wallstreet, Murex, Calypso, Imagine, Endur, Trader EH, ICI, InTrader, ADP Canada
  • Years of Experience:8(+)
System Design:
  • Ability to effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale both verbally and in written form
QA, SIT, UAT, Performance Testing / Test Automation:
  • Must have experience in:
  • Test Strategy/Plan documentation
  • Test Cases - writing and executing
  • Variance management and tracking
System Support:
  • Must be able to address questions/issues from stakeholders as it pertains to existing production reporting
