We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Regional Head of Sanctions Advisory Asia Pacific.

Principal responsibilities
  • ​Manage the Regional Sanctions Advisory team in Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong, including the provision of sanctions subject matter expertise, supporting and overseeing sanctions advisory activities across the region to ensure the consistent implementation of policy, external sanctions regulations applied globally by HSBC and oversight of compliance with local Sanctions regulations
  • Manage Customer Sanctions Risk Approvals and Transaction Sanctions Risk Approvals at a Regional level
  • Provide advice to the businesses across the Region and Countries on risk associated with prospective business, products, transactions and services as appropriate
  • Accountable for the collation of potential sanctions breaches across the ASP Region and Countries, including review of the reporting made and appropriate escalation to ASP FCC senior management, Global Sanctions and the Lines of Business, and internal IRIS reporting in a timely manner
  • Effectively managing, identifying, mitigating and escalating Sanctions risk within ASP in a proactive and continuous manner
  • Participate in and work with relevant local regional/country industry bodies and groups in relation to Sanctions related initiatives, trends and proposals
  • Provide SME advisory support on Sanctions related investigations, working collaboratively with Financial Crime Threat Mitigation (FCTM)
  • Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices, and promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand


Qualifications
Requirements
  • Seasoned risk professional with extensive experience in one or more senior risk compliance roles, to include Sanctions experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Sanctions regulations and guidance, and a proven track record in managing a sanctions programme across multiple countries and business lines
  • Proven ability to proactively and constructively engage with senior management, clients, regulators, auditors and examiners on complex sanctions topics
  • Significant experience in the financial services industry
  • Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues
  • Well developed leadership skills
  • Excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and influencing skills
  • Ability to lead change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Business globally
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators
