Vice President, Data Management & Governance, Technology & Operations

Business Function
Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures relating to metadata management (business glossaries & data catalogs), reference data management, data quality, data security and responsible use of data
  • Understand & translate the enterprise data strategy and framework to business data stewards and align their activities to achieve enterprise data objectives - Quality Data with improved Data Discoverability and Accessibility
  • Partner with and support business functions and business data stewards to manage their respective data landscape and strengthen trust worthiness of data through application of data governance/management principles
  • Work with technology teams (business analysts, architects and application managers) to strengthen the application of data management & quality requirements during systems development and maintenance
  • Facilitate resolution of functional and cross functional data issues working with data stewards and technology teams. Lead and help identify and trace sources of data for reporting and analytics initiatives
  • Perform investigative analysis on data pain points (process and system gaps)
  • Help and support business functions and data stewards to monitor regulatory guidelines through Data Governance principles, (such as privacy requirements, data management & reporting requirement like BCBS239, Granular Data Reporting etc.), compliance-related guidance (such as data retention and audit requirements)
  • Work closely with data producers/trustees to ensure key data assets are entered, modified and deleted in accordance with data governance policies and standards
  • Develop metrics and use data to inform overall status of data governance/management and key pain points to enterprise leadership. Prepare presentations and materials for data stewards workgroup meetings, data council and other stakeholder reviews.

Requirements
  • Degree in Business, Information Technology, Data and Information Management or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis across systems and processes; should include comprehensive experience as a business/process lead or as a lead in a functional role, preferably in banking industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication / interpersonal skills
  • Strong, presentation, facilitation, problem solving and influencing skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Independent and self-motivated individual who enjoys owning tasks and jumping in to deliver.
  • Must be able to work effectively and build strong relationships with teams throughout the organization
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively and work in ambiguous and changing environment.
  • Passion for data and governance and experience in rolling our data / information management framework / operating models, preferably in banking industry
  • Detail oriented with strong information seeking skills and ability to abstract the detail for executive communication
  • Experience in using enterprise architecture and data management tools like MEGA, Collibra, Protiviti etc
  • Knowledge and experience with data related technologies like SQL and data visualization tools like Qlikview preferred.
  • Knowledge / experience of regulatory requirements on data governance / data aggregation like BCBS239 and Granular Data Reporting (GDR) is an advantage.
