FCR APAC Region Head – Wholesale Credit Review
Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the regional Wholesale FCR Review program that consists of global, regional, or single-country credit reviews related to all or some Wholesale businesses
  • Represent FCR in the region with Wholesale Business and Risk Seniors including participation in key Regional Risk Committees and by being FCR's representative on any regional high-level projects
  • Manage and lead the regional Wholesale Credit Review teams
  • Coordinate with the Global Head of Wholesale Credit Review and GRR Management as appropriate to address and escalate emerging risk trends
  • Ensure that assessments of portfolios, credit risk processes, risk ratings and classifications, staffing models and others as related to BM and Reviews are consistent and properly reported to senior management, Citi's Boards of Directors, and Regulators
  • Ensure that Corrective Action Plans (CAP) across the FCR review program are appropriate, monitored, and duly validated
  • Ensure that FCR documents that include Credit Assessment Documents and Review Reports meet quality and consistency standards
  • Oversee recruitment, talent development, and building of an effective Review team for the Region
  • Assist the Global Head of Wholesale Credit Review in developing and executing the FCR Review Plan for the region
  • Regularly interface with regional senior business and risk managers
  • Coordinate the enrolment of Guest Reviewers from Businesses and Risk teams within the region for participation in regional and global Reviews
  • Assist the Global Head of Wholesale Credit Review in strengthening all aspects of the FCR function, including policies and standards, budgeting and staffing, execution of engagements and contingency planning
  • Stay abreast of economic, regulatory and geopolitical developments across the region
  • Actively support the onboarding of new Lead Reviewers, provide coaching and on the job training
  • Represent FCR and engage as required with Regulators, including providing support needed for the remediation of credit risk management Matters Requiring Attention (MRA) and other equivalent regulatory issues
  • Support Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives for GRR
  • Travel required (up to 25%)

  • Demonstrable financial services experience including 15+ years of credit experience in wholesale banking or credit risk management
  • Ability to work at senior levels and build constructive and effective relationships with peers
  • Fully conversant in credit policy matters
  • Proven sound judgment and ability to identify emerging risks
  • Knowledge of Citi's Wholesale Credit Policies, organization and systems preferred
  • Expert in risk analysis and risk management processes for one or more products and lending areas
  • Advance knowledge of regulatory frameworks or relevant experience in a similar role at another institution

  • Strategic orientation so as to ensure the function continues to be positioned as a thoughtful and proactive partner to Senior Management on credit risk management matters and on driving best practices to support safety and soundness in the region
  • Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority
  • Demonstrated history of high ethical standards and discretion in dealing with highly confidential Board and Senior Management material
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills
  • Capable of managing difficult conversations, resolving conflicts and dealing with sensitive and/or controversial issues
  • Demonstrated success as a manager including a track record of building high performing teams and developing emerging VP/SVP/Director level talent
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and manage large review teams in different regions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • BA/BSc or higher degree in Business (MBA), Finance or any other related subject
  • Senior Credit Officer designation is required, Level 2 or higher is preferred.
