Lead Data Engineer, Standard Chartered nexus

What you will do:

• Play the role of a data technology leader for Nexus as it builds out BaaS platform and data products.
• Lead the data architecture and implementation of Nexus Data Lake, Engineering, Reporting and Tooling.
• Industrialize the rollout and deployment of nexus data lake into multiple partner locations and cloud regions.
• Apply product thinking when building out data capabilities to help with scaling in many countries and companies.
• Own vision and road map for data engineering and data culture.
• Collaborate with security, risk and functional delivery teams to understand the platform evolves to support the business and technology needs
• Contribute to securing of the data lake offering using DevSecOps best practices, SAST and DAST tools
• Lead automation efforts for Data Jobs and Pipelines at nexus.
• Hire, Mentor and Guide team members and perform code and architecture review for Data pipelines.
• Help make the nexus data engineering solution scalable and highly available
• Collaborate with Developer Productivity Engineering Lead to provide a world class experience for all our developers
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform Lead to provide one click setup/deployment
• Collaborate with Data Platform Lead to enhance data solutions
• Collaborate with Domain Leads and promote federated data governance culture.
• Extend the data lake solution to add MLOps capability
• Add tooling to enhance self-service capability for both data pipelines, experimentation and access.

Role Technical Competencies

• 4+ years of experience working in a Data Warehouse/Engineering or Data Platform team.
• Previous Team lead experience in Data or Software Engineering.
• At least two years of coding experience with Scala.
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience prioritising tasks with technology teams.
• Strong background in agile delivery methodology with experience working with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Good understanding of AWS, GCP or Azure Cloud
• Experience working with Presto, Trino, Hive, Parquet files and partitioning.
• Experience with one of Apache Spark, Beam, Flink
• Experience with one of Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster
• Experience with at least one NoSQL Database
