The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm.

Through credit risk taking decisions you make, you are striking a balance between risk and rewards for the firm in the most efficient way to enhance shareholder value. You will become a risk expert with in-depth knowledge in many industries. Your daily decisions will ensure that the firm's risk appetite statement and risk-taking philosophy are consistently executed. You are the safeguard of the firm's capital through economic cycles.

We're a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's liquidity, capital and risk, and providing the overall financial control and reporting functions. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm's counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm's success. Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Credit Risk Management Department ("CRM") is a central part of the Goldman Sachs risk management framework, with primary responsibility for assessing, monitoring and managing credit risk at the Firm. CRM is staffed globally with offices including New York, London, Salt Lake City, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Warsaw. As a member of CRM you will interface with a variety of divisions around the firm (Securities, Banking, Legal, Compliance, Operations, etc.) as well as the other regional CRM offices. The interaction with numerous departments and the diverse projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment.

We partner with other divisions in the firm and externally with clients to support the firm's wide array of banking and trading business. CRM professionals are part of the value proposition of the firm and we balance our key functional responsibility of control with that of being commercial. CRM's Singapore office works closely with CRM's global offices across several key functions:

  • Product risk management, including credit limit and settlement risk monitoring, limit exception management, risk exposure analysis and reporting, and post-trade risk management processes. All of these areas are critical to GS' ability to effectively monitor and manage the risks we take across the counterparties with whom we trade
  • Counterparty evaluation, including assessing and monitoring the creditworthiness of the firm's trading counterparties and borrowers by completing fulsome reviews of their financial and business profiles
Analysts/Associates in the Credit Research Group (CRG) within CRM Singapore office will be responsible for:
  • Assessing and monitoring the creditworthiness of the firm's trading counterparties and borrowers (e.g. banks, industrials, hedge funds) by writing annual reviews and recommending internal credit ratings
  • Planning and participating in counterparty due diligence sessions
  • Monitoring counterparties and current events and produce qualitative commentaries for regional CRM colleagues and managers on how they impact counterparty/borrower credit quality

Over time, a CRG analyst should develop some industry expertise and knowledge of how to communicate broad industry trends, while interacting with CRM colleagues in a number of other offices across the globe.
