Senior Accountant (contract) for a renowned Professional Service MNC

Our client is a top notch and international name within the professional service sector based in town.

 

This is an 18-month contract role offering 3 months completion bonus at the end of the assignment for a good performer.  The benefits extended are also smiliar to that given to perm staff. In addition, there are also opportunities to be considered for a perm role if the performance is good.

 

As the Senior Accountant, you act as a strategic finance advisor and business partner to the SEA practice (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia & Thailand). The role reports directly to the Financial Controller/Director and is responsible for the financial operations of the SEA practice focus on Thailand to ensure all areas of compliance are met.

CORE CAPABILITIES

Experience working in a multi-geography context, ideally across ASEAN; with sufficient exposure/understanding of multi-currencies and local payroll & tax laws across Singapore/Malaysia/ Indonesia/Thailand (preferred)

  • Strong core technical and analytical capabilities is a given: ability to understand and independently manage aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, accounting, payroll, audit and compliance; committed to achieving a high quality of work according to agreed timelines. 
  • Driven and proactive individual with strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (verbal and written); ability to build strong working relationships and trust in a very high-touch, customer service-oriented organization
  • Strong team work and delivery; ability to work with the team supporting them to manage multiple priorities and deliver zero-defect work
  • Strong system skills including proficiency in Excel, data base accounting and financial reporting software essential

 

  

KEY TASKS

You are expected to work closely with various stakeholders (i.e. Global/Regional finance counterparts, Legal, HR, SEA department managers)

 

  • Payroll, Financial Accounting & Compliance  (60% to 70%)

-Understanding of the firm’s accounting policies and process to effectively support the monthly and year-end closing activities (financial and management aspects) of the entire team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions.  

-Key point of contact for Thailand, handling full sets of accounts with our external provider 

-Have a deep understanding of the payroll operations and implications within

 the SEA cluster (Thailand preferred) and be willing to undertake some payroll

 operations (e.g. regulatory requirements, transfer payroll, tax equalisation,

 treaty exemptions etc.). 

-Prepare reports to ensure local entities comply with all local regulatory authorities and corporate policies (e.g. annual tax return, GST/VAT, payroll reporting, external financial and tax audit etc.)

-Establish strong business relationships with Bain’s bank, external/internal tax and audit advisors 

-Support the team in ad-hoc queries, projects and other business initiatives

 

  • Pipeline, Pricing & Revenue Management   (30 to 40%)

-Support the team in the review of pricing and commercial terms (e.g. supporting requests for proposals, MSAs, pricing negotiations, case team pricing and letter of engagement development) 

-Ensure timely pipeline management and proper recognition of revenue and

timely, accurate revenue reporting.

-Assist case management with pricing and C:R questions, engaging regularly with staffing

-Prepare invoices, ensure accurate recording and manage collections o Work closely with other offices on revenue transfers

-Support the team in regular & ad-hoc business reporting (e.g. tracking of metrics and preparation of PMG decks)

-Adhoc support for the annual budgeting and planning process

 

QUALIFICATIONS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and either CPA/CA qualification, audit experience is preferred.
  • Around 6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience with strong financial accounting and month end close exp
  • Payroll accounting exp is useful but this is not a must
  • Has regional MNC experience
  • Experience in a high results focused culture, preferably within a professional services firm (though this is not a must)
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills
  • Strong system skills including proficiency in Excel, data base accounting and financial reporting software essential
  • Able to commit to a 18 months assignment.
  • Very team based. Hands-on, committed, professional with strong stakeholder management skills
