Area/Context




The Communications department of Societe Generale Asia-Pacific ensures:

  • The definition and implementation of the Communication strategy in the region (approx. 8000 staff across 12 countries), in line with Societe Generale Group Communications' and Asia-Pacific's overall strategy and objectives'

  • The promotion of Societe Generale's brand, culture, values, and business expertise to its internal and external stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region;

  • The support of its business activities, principally in Financing & Advisory, Global Markets and Investor Solutions, Asset Management, and Transaction Banking.
The Communications department consists of a regional team based in Hong Kong and dedicated resources for key regions. It is organised around the following channels:

  • Branding & advertising;

  • Partnerships & citizenship;

  • Media relations;

  • Editorial & digital communications;

  • Events.


The South East Asia sub-region encompasses 5 countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Role Summary


Based in Singapore and working under the supervision of the Head of Communication, Asia Pacific and the Group Country Head of Singapore & Head of South East Asia and India, the South East Asia Communications Manager is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the communications plan for South East Asia, integrating local implementation of the global/APAC communication strategy

  • Providing communications support to the South East Asia EXCO

  • Representing communication at the Singapore Branch Executive Committee and various staff engagement committees
The role particularly focuses on delivering the following objectives, shared with the local business lines and HR teams:

  • Promote the bank's image as an employer;

  • Support and enhance client relations;

  • Generate staff engagement
Responsibilities:

The scope of responsibility covers all channels promoting Societe Generale's image and activities in South East Asia, in coordination with the respective contacts in the regional communication team:


  • Branding & advertising
o Custodian of brand guidelines and ensure local implementation for any usage
o Contribute to the regional advertising plan and support local implementation
o Support sourcing of merchandising products and gifts

  • Partnerships & Citizenship
o Implement the local and regional sponsorship platforms
o Identify and manage local partnerships in line with SG's image
o Coordinate citizenship initiatives across SE Asia

  • Media relations
o Develop and implement the media plan for SE Asia
o Identify media opportunities e.g. research, products/deals, corporate topics
o Develop media relations with target media
o Manage spokespersons
o Manage crisis communications as and when relevant

  • Editorial & digital communications
o Produce regular content, focusing on business activities and corporate culture
o Advertise content on digital channels: CMS and community management
o Manage digital owned media channels to deliver communication to staff and other stakeholders
o Manage SE Asia Staff newsletter as and when published (currently quarterly)

  • Events
o Create staff engagement events supporting Citizenship/Diversity/internal social activities in collaboration with HR and the various staff engagement committees
o Organize/support organization of client events locally in collaboration with Business Units
o Support HR in campus partnership events

  • Resources, monitoring and strategy
o Monitor communication budget for SE Asia
o Define KPI and metrics
o Follow-up and regular reporting on communication activity and impact
o Participate in defining the communication roadmap for Asia Pacific

The role implies also to assist the other Communications team members across Asia-Pacific as and when

Profile Required

Profile:
  • Proven record in developing and implementing transversal communication strategies (using different channels, targeting different audiences, and promoting a wide range of image items)
  • Experience in the financial industry
  • Strong writing skills
  • Hands-on approach yet good sense of strategic use of communication

Skills:
  • Strong relationship and adaption skills: a team player with ability to work with all levels of staff in all business/support functions
  • Service-driven, dynamic and open-minded: a doer with ability to steer business/support functions toward a common goal
  • Agile, curious and forward-thinking: ability to question and revisit any action
  • Trustworthy and transparent

Requirements
  • University degree in communications, media & communication, marketing, literature, journalism or relevant field
  • Professional experience in a multi-national corporation, specialised communication agency, or media agency is advantageous
  • Strong written and verbal communication with excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in MS suite with Adobe Photoshop proficiency a plus
  • Willingness to learn and ability to communicate ideas clearly to the wider Asia Pacific communications team
  • Strong sense of responsibility and a strong team player
  • Languages: Fluency in English with fluency in a second language (e.g. Mandarin, French) a plus
