Vice President (Equity Derivatives), Investment (Public Markets) (10814)

We are seeking a Vice President to join Temasek's Public Markets team, focused on trading and structuring equity derivatives. The Public Markets team is part of the Firm's Investment Group.

The derivative arm within Public Markets is responsible for the structuring and trading of all of the Firm's investment-related derivative transactions. The Firm uses derivatives for three primary purposes: (1) to enhance yield on the portfolio, (2) to protect the portfolio, and (3) to express macro-investment views. The team works collaboratively with the Firm's individual sector and country investment teams (which collectively make up the Investment Group), as well as our Portfolio Strategy Risk Group (PSRG). The team primarily focuses on OTC single stock, ETF and index equity derivatives, including vanilla call / put options and total return swaps. Other instruments may include derivatives on other asset classes (e.g., commodities, fixed income)

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with a solid understanding of equity derivatives, and their uses in the context of investment. S/he should be numerate, with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. The ideal candidate should be team oriented and work well within different project teams - the team works very closely with different functions to structure transactions, which are eventually formally presented to investment committee for approval. Experience with documentation negotiation beyond vanilla options, as well as proficiency with Bloomberg and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Self-starter attitude
• Good existing understanding of equity derivatives, and various uses in an investment context
• Direct relevant experience in equity derivatives in a trading, structuring or corporate derivatives role
• Extensive experience in dealing with trade term sheet / structured trade documentation, familiar with ISDA definitions

• Keen interest in financial markets and investing in equities/indices
• Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Energetic and the curiosity to learn
• Team player and ability to work well across different functions

• VBA/Programming related skills would be useful, but not essential

Key Responsibilities:

• Trading, and managing of existing derivatives positions
• Origination of trade ideas and portfolio monitoring of our existing investments through the lens of yield enhancement, hedging and macro investment

• Structuring of solutions for the firm's investment/divestment needs
• Negotiate complex trade documentation, master confirmation agreements etc.
• Identifying catalyst and tracking single stock positions from a flow / fundamental perspective
• Pricing and valuation of new and existing derivatives trades
• Preparation of presentations, analyses, and investment materials

• Presenting ideas internally, and at investment committee
• Ad hoc longer-term organizational or team projects

Qualifications/Capabilities/Experience:

• Detail oriented, self -starter, self-motivated team player with excellent communications skill

• Level: ~7-8 years of relevant work experience in equity derivatives structuring and/or equity derivatives trading at sellside or buyside; derivatives sales capacity with strong documentation knowledge can be considered
• Asset Class: Single stock/index derivatives; strong experience in fixed income derivatives can be considered
• Location: Position is full-time, and based in Singapore with mobility opportunities to the US for the right candidate over time
