Description About this role Wealth Segment Description The Wealth team is responsible for understanding market trends and client needs across Asia-Pacific's diverse Wealth markets and translating these into commercial opportunities for our business. The team works with regional distributors and banks, as well as global private banks and insurers to offer the full range of BlackRock active funds, ETFs and alternatives products.
We partner with clients to build bespoke solutions that meet their specific needs, while offering model portfolios and discretionary investment offerings backed by our market-leading in-house technology and risk analytics. The team sits across Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China Offshore, Australia and Japan, and works closely with colleagues around the globe to deliver the best of BlackRock to APAC Wealth investors.
Job Purpose/Background: We are looking for a Chief of Staff to support the Head of APAC Wealth, working closely with our regional teams and senior leaders across the Wealth business and broader firm. The candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of APAC Wealth, working as an agent of change across the APAC Wealth organization.
The role will require close cross-functional and cross-regional partnership to ensure that key priorities for the business are achieved and that high-impact projects are on track for delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to stay on top of market developments, investment trends and business performance - and be able to represent the Head of Wealth when needed. They should also be able to maintain direct interactions with key clients and build a strong internal network at the firm, including with senior stakeholders. The ability to operate with discretion and maturity across cultural contexts is also key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities: Prioritize and prepare for external and internal engagements
Draft presentations, talking points and briefing memos for the Head of Wealth's client engagements, industry or internal conferences, board presentations, etc.
Prepare and execute (or oversee the execution of) clear action items and commitments for the Head of Wealth's meetings
Proactively manage relationships internally and externally; serve as an ambassador and provide context to key stakeholders to
Coordinate and consolidate input on strategic priorities for the APAC Wealth business
Handle special projects and ad hoc incoming requests
Drive progress around strategic priorities
Scope, plan, and partner on strategic priorities that support the APAC Wealth business, including regional initiatives, internal and external engagements, and content for client engagements
Ensure all projects have accountable ownership, clear timelines, context for partners, specific and measurable deliverables, and alignment with business priorities
Act as a thought partner to the Head of Wealth and other Wealth business leaders
Proactively identify potential issues/pain points and take steps to mitigate or escalate as necessary
Collaborate and partner with colleagues at all levels of BlackRock to drive projects through to completion - including with colleagues based in other regions
Work closely with the APAC Chairperson's office and the APAC Wealth COO team on key strategic and business initiatives
Navigate the matrix organization effectively to obtain necessary fact-checking and insights in a timely measure
Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications:
7+ years of industry experience in a directly relevant field (financial services, management consulting or similar)
Unquestioned integrity, discretion and the highest ethical standards
Sense of urgency around client, management and partner requests
Strong ownership mentality and extremely high attention to detail
Ability to communicate upcoming deliverables and objectives, influence stakeholders and effectively manage projects with lead time, clear and consultative guidance, and empathy
Team player with high level of motivation and inquisitiveness, comfort with ambiguity and the ability to function well under stress or time pressure
Intellectually curious with the ability to take initiative and deliver results in a matrixed organization
A strong understanding of the APAC Wealth business and the broader asset and wealth management industry
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Advanced PowerPoint and business writing skills; ability to quickly produce management-level presentations, business memos and exhibits utilizing data and synthesizing key information
