 THE ROLE

 

Silicon Valley Bank (“the Bank”) is experiencing ongoing growth including expanding into Europe and reorganizing the UK business from a branch into a subsidiary. Given this background, the EMEA Risk team, sitting in the Second Line of Defence (“2LOD”), is expanding and we are looking to hire a talented and experienced Risk Senior Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Risk Management and Model Risk you will be responsible for the Second Line oversight on Capital management of the UK Bank. If you are a technical SME in all that is Capital Risk, and would like to provide specialist strategic direction to a client and employee centric Bank, with ambitious growth plans, this role might just be for you!

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  • Undertake the 2LOD oversight across all capital related processes across EMEA entities. This will include contributing SME views to the Risk Appetite, forecasting, scenario analysis and risk appetite management processes.
  • Review & provide insight and challenge over the production of the Bank’s ICAAP and Recovery plan & Resolution pack, including stress testing scenarios & outputs
  • Undertake horizon scanning & detailed emerging risks assessments, whilst keeping up to date with regulatory requirements and assessing the potential impact on the business
  • Use analytical skills to provide oversight and recommendations to the 1LOD, including capital optimization and allocation, and capital focused risk assessments for new and existing products
  • Review & provide oversight over regulatory returns (Capital – COREP & PRA) including interpretations and support on regulatory expectations
  • Report Capital related risks to Senior Management on a monthly basis, and additionally as required
  • Build relationships internally, with the EMEA and US colleagues, so that all teams the Bank consider risk and apply customer-centric thinking as part of decision their making processes

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Education: Relevant experience and/or business, Economics or Accounting qualification.
  • Work Experience:  Solid experience working in Capital functions, either in the 1LOD or 2LOD in Specific experience in ICAAP, standardized and internal P2A and P2B capital methodologies, knowledge of capital regulations.
  • Consultancy or experience at the PRA highly valued (but not essential)
  • Highly numerate with excellent Excel skills, and the ability to investigate/manipulate data quickly, find trends and provide recommendations
  • Communications:  The individual must have excellent communication and presentation abilities, including strong written and verbal skills and the ability to explain issues and decisions, as well as strategy, both internally and externally.  The individual must be an excellent listener, who works to understand the needs of others.
  • The ability to multitask, a deep sense of ownership and attention to detail are essential
