Senior/ Lead Front End Developer
We are looking to hire an experienced technology professional to take on the role of front-end developer. There will be significant opportunities both to contribute to the existing front-end codebase and to develop new areas using your own initiative. It will be a highly rewarding role, with the successful applicant gaining long-term responsibility for some of the core technology used by the company. The existing codebase is JavaScript based, making particular use of frameworks such as Cycle.js and TypeScript.

The responsibilities of the role include:
  • Implementation of high quality user interfaces to support financial product distribution and reporting.
  • Integration of the front ends to our core back end systems.
  • Devise and implement ongoing testing methodologies to ensure the code you implement meets the requirements of the specification.
  • Ongoing development and maintenance once code has been established and implemented.
  • Input into the UX and web design aspects. There may be some scope to take on elements of design work.

The successful applicant will be a technology professional with experience of building, testing and maintaining enterprise level UI systems, ideally for financial applications. You will need to be able to work self-sufficiently, and have the creativity and originality to come up with your own solutions to problems. In return you will enjoy a flexible working environment, and will be given the freedom to make your own decisions about how to approach and solve tasks at hand, as long as deliverables are made within the given deadlines.

The following are essential skills/experience:
  • 5+ years' experience in Javascript based front-end technologies at an enterprise level, with particular focus on the following technologies:
    • Functional reactive programming (e.g. Redux may be a relevant technology)
    • TypeScript or experience with static type systems
    • Experience of functional programming
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Involvement in projects from start to finish; covering scoping, build, testing and implementation.
  • Sound knowledge of UX techniques and some design capability.

In addition, the following would be highly desirable:
  • Knowledge of financial products, particularly retail investment products and platforms
  • Experience of other web based technologies - RESTful API's, Virtual DOM (e.g. React) etc.
  • Experience of .NET technologies (C#, F# etc)
  • Experience of MongoDB
  • Desire to pursue new projects, and be a true stakeholder in the project
  • Ambition to work in a small, fast-growing team

The core offering of the Quantitative Investment Strategies team is centred around investment products that utilise algorithms and automated re-balancing mechanisms in order to meet a particular investment objective as specified by the retail investor or financial adviser. We provide these platforms and associated algorithms to financial product distributors (such as banks and insurance companies), who in turn face the end investor or financial adviser.

We operate across Europe and further afield, with our systems typically running algorithms and re-balancing mechanisms across many thousands of investor accounts each day, on behalf of tier 1 financial institutions including banks and insurance companies. We have a track record over several years of successfully integrating our technology with major investment banks, life insurance companies and retail banks.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeing an increasing demand for us to develop interactive web interfaces for end users of our platforms to view and make changes to their investment products.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes women, men, mothers, fathers, the self-taught, the university-educated and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds. Obviously, we are looking to ensure it's a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you're proud to come to every day.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know at .
