The Team
As a member of the Global Hosting team you will be part of the wider Technology family, working alongside (sometimes physically, sometimes virtually) colleagues in all serviceline's around the world.

Global Hosting are responsible for the Wintel, Unix / Solaris, Storage, Database, Backups, Cloud and Automation serviceline's, from an operational perspective through to design and delivery. As such, you and other team members at all levels will have a huge amount of experience between you to help each other where needed.

Location
You will be based at our offices in The City of London, however our new Technology Operations Centre on the Broadlands Business Campus near Horsham in West Sussex will never be too far away.

What You Will do
• Work as part of a Global multi-locational cross-matrix team in a dynamic and high pressured environment
• Responsible for managing and mentoring the Global Engineering team within the serviceline
• Responsible for the overall serviceline's Global Policies and Standards
• Responsible for the overall serviceline's Global roadmap of both existing and new technologies
• Work with all Role Levels to ensure delivery of suitable and sufficient training within the Global Serviceline
• Research, suggest and introduce new Global technologies that may provide a business benefit to Schroders in terms of cost and / or competitiveness in the market
• Overall responsibility for vendor management within the related serviceline
• Form a professional working relationship with other Global Technology Serviceline Technical Leads to ensure shared services as a whole are delivered as expected
• Form a professional working relationship with all levels of the Global Serviceline, including Service Desk, Operations and Engineering teams
• Responsible for ensuring the overall delivered Global serviceline meets or exceeds the requirements of the Business
• Availability Management - Responsible for ensuring the Global serviceline meets or exceeds the availability requirements of the Business
• Capacity Management - Responsible for working with Service Management to ensure the Global serviceline meets or exceeds the capacity requirements of the Business
• Responsible for ensuring that Schroders Information Security policies and standards are adhered to for all solutions within the Global serviceline
• Responsible for ensuring that Schroders Compliance policies and standards are adhered to for all solutions within the Global serviceline
• Responsible for risk management for the related Global Serviceline
• Provide cost effective and operationally efficient design services using automation where possible
• Responsible for forecasting and adhering to financial budgets
• Proactively seek continual service improvement opportunities
• Overall responsibility for the design of all Products in the Serviceline
• Responsible for providing serviceline engagement for any new solution at the Design stage to ensure Global serviceline policies and standards are adhered to
• Responsible for providing technical governance throughout the lifecycle of any new solution or project
• Responsible for ensuring Serviceline Products complete sufficient end to end Service Transition through to live
• Act as the Global Serviceline Champion within Schroders, representing the Serviceline where necessary
• Act as a point of escalation for the Global Serviceline, providing guidance, support and expertise when required as part of normal activities, projects and incidents
• Provide the highest level of internal customer relationship management at all times
• Out of hours work, weekend work and being on-call will be required

The Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications That You Will Have
• Solution design experience
• Architectural governance experience
• Vendor Management experience
• Experience of leading and working as part of a technical global team
• Experience in evidentially based testing through all stages of the testing lifecycle
• Certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Oracle Professional
• An understanding of the importance of metrics and statistics when measuring performance and capacity
• In-depth technical knowledge of the following...
• MS SQL 2005 - 2017 onwards (up to 12TB) and / or Oracle 10 onwards
• High Availability using SQL AlwaysOn and / or Oracle Dataguard, Clustering and Windows Operating systems
• *NIX administrative skills
• SSRS and SSIS
• Experience of delivering improvement through debugging code and optimising queries
• Creation and development of scheduled database maintenance routines
• Active Directory in relation to databases
• Power shell, Bash, scripting and automation in relation to databases
• Security and vulnerability based approach to security hardening

The Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications That Will Help
• Experience of working in the financial sector
• Experience, knowledge or a qualification in the ITIL Framework
• Experience of ServiceNow
• Experience of Splunk
• Knowledge of backup solutions
• Knowledge of storage solutions
• Working knowledge of Sybase and NoSQL
• Knowledge of Hyper converged technologies
• Working in an Agile environment
• A degree-level qualification in a computing or technical discipline
