    Responsibilities

    Summer interns will be exposed to federal and state tax procedures including tax planning, projects, and return preparation which will involve tax research and the preparation of supporting work papers.  There will be an opportunity to learn new skillsets, be involved in office community activities, and build lasting relationships with members of the CIBC US team. The internship will include, but will not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

    1. Identifying, researching, and assessing various tax issues while also providing information to Tax Managers.
    2. Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other state taxing authorities
    3. Reviewing data input, identifying and resolving federal and state technical tax issues, and assisting in the preparation of tax workpapers and returns
    4. Identifying and carrying out other projects as assigned
    5. Collaboratively working with Tax team members while building rapport and strong relationships
    Qualifications
    1. Pursuing an accounting or finance degree from an accredited Bachelor's program
    2. Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
    3. Strong technical aptitude and skillset
    4. Team-oriented attitude
    5. Strong work ethic
    6. Coursework in corporate income tax is a plus
    7. Working towards eligibility to sit for CPA exam upon graduation (150 credits) a plus
