This role will be responsible for building and maintaining the Marketing Data Platform that is used to support strategic marketing division projects. This will include data quality initiatives, structural enhancements, incorporating additional internal and third-party data, partner collaboration, and outside-the-box thinking. Capable of communicating and displaying data insights.

This developer/architect will also be a leader in advancing our data solutions as we evolve our cloud-based strategies and invest in the latest industry concepts and tools. They must also lead us in the development of an ecosystem delivering data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities used to deliver insights and guidance to a broad network of internal and external users.

Core Functions

Included, but not limited to, the following:
• Improve and enhance CME's marketing data warehouse as a part of Marketing and collaborate with governance and security groups, Technology, sales teams and data science to identify insights and opportunities
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management; assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
• Develop deep expertise on data sources, required transformations, quality, consistency, velocity, access
• Provide technical leadership in the architecture, design and implementation of the data engineering best practices and data governance
• Manage and own data warehouse plans across Marketing
• Evaluate, determine root cause and resolve critical issue
• Serve as an enterprise contact, subject-matter expert and data ambassador for CME's marketing department

• Understand both the technical implementation side as well as reporting and analysis side of using web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
• Experience with AWS and GCP platforms
• Ability to understand business functions and user stories, decompose them into technical specifications, and develop working application code for a cloud environment
• Experience working on teams that use source control (e.g. GIT, TFS), agile methodologies, and proper coding/database development processes in support of production-grade data pipelines and products
• Experience managing large complex data environments, including experience in requirements gathering, database design, development, management, troubleshooting and optimization
• Experience with data processing, ETL, data ingestion, data pipeline maintenance, developing and consuming APIs; fluency in SQL and Python
• Excellent communication skills to deliver insights, recommendations to senior leaders across the organization
• Proven ability to work with varied data infrastructures - including relational and unstructured databases

• Experience with data management and governance, including privacy and regulatory data restriction and role-based security
• Knowledge of data modeling methodologies and best practices (Entity-Relationship Models, data normalization, star schema, Kimball, etc.)
• Great at time management, communication, and being a self-starter
• Superior interpersonal skills to drive cross-functional collaboration and lead change initiatives
• Extremely detail oriented and quality-obsessed, especially when it comes to the databases you build, their ability to scale, and the problems they solve
• An eagerness to dive in and solve the challenges that arise in the complex data ecosystem supporting CME's marketing and sales organizations
• Comfortable discussing the technical processes, terminology, and strategy behind B2B marketing operations, including leads, attribution, marketing funnels, and key sales processes
• Ability to integrate deep subject matter expertise with industry and professional experience to achieve strategic goals, influencing leadership decisions, mentoring team members, and leading large projects for teams
• Must be able to proactively communicate status and identify risks
• Create reliable/maintainable code, and find creative and scaleable solutions to difficult problems

  • Experience working in and/or developing a B2B CRM/Marketing Automation instance used to manage accounts and contacts, their engagement activities, profiling, and progression through the sales process
  • Experience with cloud deployments, continuous integration and deployment pipeline and tools, security and infrastructure will be preferred
  • Certification and or experience in cloud computing or big data technologies is highly preferred

Education & Experience
• 2+ years python
• 3+ years working with Marketing data sets
• 5+ years SQL
• BS/BA or advanced degree in computer science, information systems management, or similar discipline
• Must have extensive ETL development background
• Must have solid Data Warehouse experience
