Corporate Responsibility – Sustainability – Analyst
Business Description:
The Sustainability team is seeking an Analyst for either its New York City or Washington, DC office to support implementation of the Firm's sustainability initiatives. The team works to advance sustainability in the financing activities of JPMorgan Chase's lines of business (LOBs) and throughout our operations. The team coordinates the implementation of several key priorities, including reputation risk management; internal and external reporting and communications on environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters; client and stakeholder engagement on ESG and sustainability; and operational sustainability.

The team sits within the Firm's Corporate Responsibility (CR) division (which also includes Global Government Relations and Public Policy, Global Philanthropy, the Office of Nonprofit Engagement, and the JPMorgan Chase Institute) and works closely with CR's Impact Finance team, which leads the development of capital solutions that advance the Firm's social and environmental objectives. The Sustainability team also works closely with senior executives and partners in the LOBs, Risk Management, Investor Relations, Global Real Estate and other teams on a day-today basis.

The Analyst will report to the Head of Sustainability and have an important role in supporting the full team on a diverse range of initiatives, with a specific emphasis on key work streams below. Occasional travel within the U.S. may be required.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

Implementation of JPMC sustainability strategy and commitments
  • Support LOBs and other teams on strategy development and on the execution of new projects and initiatives
  • Partner with business management teams and Global Real Estate to track and report on progress against the Firm's commitments to facilitate $200B in clean financing by 2025 and use renewable energy for 100% of power needs by end of 2020
ESG and sustainability reporting
  • Support the Firm's external sustainability reporting efforts, including development of JPMorgan Chase's annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, climate change report, and Modern Slavery Act statement; will include writing, editing and data collection and analysis, and helping to drive ongoing strategy in our business related to these matters
  • Engage with sustainability/ESG raters and research analysts, including gathering and communicating detailed data and information and making sure it is interpreted accurately
Client and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop insights and market comparables on industry best practices regarding environmental and social matters
  • Create materials, including Power Point decks and talking points, to support coverage for key client relationships with a strategic focus on ESG and sustainability
  • Provide support to LOBs on Requests for Proposals issued by clients and prospects
  • Assist with responses to internal and external inquiries related to the Firm's ESG and sustainability initiatives
  • Coordinate planning and execution of internal and external roundtables and events
  • Support the Firm's sustainability and ESG communications to JPMorgan Chase employees, though various internal channels including our intranet and various newsletters
Grants management
  • Work with colleagues in Global Philanthropy to coordinate the team's portfolio of sustainability-related grants, including reviewing grant proposals, tracking grants through the grants management process, and ensuring timely receipt of impact reports
Desired Skills:
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and quantitative skills; prior training or experience in finance is a plus
  • Interest in environmental and human rights issues and knowledge of industry trends and policy related to ESG and corporate sustainability
  • Highly experienced in using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to distill and present complex information plainly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a small team and with senior executives
  • Ability to excel and maintain a positive attitude in a high-performance, fast-paced professional environment, while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and desire to learn
