Developer - Mainframe

Libra, the renovated Position & Balance system is a cross-platform application that maintains the TAPS sub-ledger for Institutional Securities. This application is widely used in the firm, interacting with key applications for ISG. As the majority of its transaction providers and its data consumers are still on the mainframe platform, Libra has a strong mainframe footprint. There are a large number of applications and users that rely on Libra's position & balance date and journal data.

This individual will be part of the Libra mainframe development, working on critical mainframe projects, providing Level 3 production support, and working on adhoc reporting for critical firm analysis.

This individual will be expected to analyze business functions and data discrepancies and to assist in identifying solutions that leverage both the mainframe and the distributed platforms. This individual must be able to use his/her mainframe development skills to code and test solutions to business requirements. This individual should be able to communicate effectively with global team members and business users at all levels. This individual will manage a small team of offshore consultants on mainframe development projects and provide mainframe expertise guidance to junior developers.


Technical Skills:
Should have strong mainframe development skills with over 5 years of working knowledge and experience with Natural, COBOL, JCL, CICS and ADABAS.

Analytical Skills:
Should have good analytical skills with experience in business and technical analysis relating to a project.
Should be able to develop/test/implement/support technical solutions.
Should have SDLC experience

Communication Skills:
Should have good communication skills
Should have experience dealing with business users
Should have good writing skills
Should have experience working with offshore consultants.

Knowledge of and experience working with DB2, MQ and/or COBOL are a plus
