In Internal Audit, we ensure that Goldman Sachs maintains effective controls by assessing the reliability of financial reports, monitoring the firm's compliance with laws and regulations, and advising management on developing smart control solutions. Our group has unique insight on the financial industry and its products and operations. Founded in 1869, the firm is headquartered in New York and maintains offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other major financial centers around the world Internal Audit (IA) supports the Board of Directors Audit Committee and senior firm leadership in fulfilling their oversight roles by independently assessing the firm's internal control structure, raising awareness of control risk, providing advice to management in developing control solutions, and monitoring the implementation of management's control measures. IA is comprised of the following global functional audit teams covering the various business areas of the firm: Capital Markets, Investment Management, Corporate, Enterprise, GS Bank USA, and Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Required skills

  • Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Able to build and sustain long-term relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Highly organized, attention to detail and excellent follow through skills
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • 3-5 years of experience within the financial services industry in an internal audit or risk function
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts, including pricing and risk for trading products
  • Bachelor's degree in business with concentration in finance or risk management, or a degree in science, engineering or math

Preferred skills
  • Prior work experience in internal audit covering risk and/or trading, experience in a risk management function or corporate treasury
  • In depth knowledge of market risk or funding/liquidity risk. Understanding of risk measurement techniques and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills including proficient in excel, PowerPoint, querying and visualization skills
  • Strong project management skills and experience

General Responsibilities
  • Participate in all stages of audit work, including project scoping, fieldwork, identification of findings and report issuance
  • Perform control design assessment and effectiveness testing
  • Work with stakeholders within the Risk Division and Corporate Treasury during audits and validations of findings and management actions
  • Participate in annual planning and annual assessments; contribute to management reporting of findings and project coverage
