Job Summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking talented candidates for a Sr. Associate position in our Network & Partnerships team in Treasury Services. Our group of professionals is composed of top performers from global payments companies, fintechs, banks, consulting firms, and other internal JPMorgan Chase groups.

Historically, our payments business focused on moving funds around the world using a partner bank network. The world is changing rapidly and there is a new lens through which we should manage this traditional bank network. More than just service providers, these agent banks are now critical partners in our ability to maximize our clients' experience. This transformation in our network takes expert internal as well as external stakeholder engagement.

The primary function is to sharpen the focus on Treasury Services' bank network to source new services while driving down cost. This role supports the process to identify service gaps and opportunities to close those gaps through existing partners. The role relies heavily on strong internal stakeholder interactions to understand the touchpoints that shape an agent bank relationship. The Sr. Associate will help implement acquiring new bank products and cost saving opportunities. This role demands rigorous and laser sharp focus on execution to develop market leading capabilities. This is a high profile role which will require very careful attention to detail while always keeping the mission in mind.

The Sr. Associate is responsible for supporting current agent relationships including historical documentation, service agreements and pricing schedules. Leveraging internal stakeholders, the Sr. Associate will, on occasion, interface with our agent banks to improve Treasury Services' offering. The Sr. Associate will also design capability maps and network report cards to demonstrate the improvements made.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Identify and foster strong internal working relationships with Network Management, Treasury and Product teams to understand the touchpoints for Treasury Services' agent banks
    • Contribute to relationships with Treasury Services' agent bank partners to expand and/or refine existing capabilities
    • Work with regional Product teams to identify new expansion needs
  • Project Contributions
    • Assist complex initiatives by creating and managing project plans
    • Meet all new initiative delivery schedules / targets
    • Redesign existing processes (where relevant) to create capacity so that the business plan is delivered on schedule
  • Network Transformation
    • Identify new products and capabilities from global providers
    • Participate in pricing negotiations and service level agreements
    • Articulate technical capabilities required for payment processing
    • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues to ensure seamless client experience
  • Market Capability Communications
    • Articulate market capabilities by designing documents for internal and external consumption
    • Report new opportunities and changes with go-forward recommendations
    • Identify new partner opportunities
  • Governance
    • Support agent governance design and review
    • Make recommendations for governance risk scoring and methodology

Essential Qualifications

  • 4 years in a Payments Product, Payments Network Management, Fintech, or other relevant Strategy or Consulting role
  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • A bias towards action and focusing on delivering the end in mind at all times
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving with internal and external partners
  • Strong project management skills
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems and perform detailed research
  • Experience in initiatives/projects to resolve diverse problem solving challenges
  • Considers risk in interactions with clients/ partners and controls risks; understands the regulatory environment faced by the business and structures recommendations accordingly
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required
  • Travel will be required

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proven track-record of partnering with banks and non-banks (including Fintechs) for the provision of payments services
  • Successfully demonstrated track-record of building out new country and payment capabilities over a sustained period of time
