Eddie Kwok, Standard Chartered’s head of equities technology front-office development, has joined Hong Kong startup TDX Strategies as chief technology officer.
TDX is a quant-driven technology and trading firm, co-founded by Dick Lo, a former head of exotics trading at Daiwa Capital Markets, in mid-2019. Lo is TDX’s CEO, while co-founder and ex-Citi SVP Theodore Tse is COO.
The firm provides liquidity for digital assets for professional investors, and offers OTC derivatives digital-asset trading solutions and strategies. Since launching its investment solutions platform in Q2 of this year, TDX has seen a three-fold increase in business volumes in one quarter, according to its website.
New TDX recruit Kwok was at Standard Chartered in Hong Kong for about 12 years, the first 11 of which he spent as a senior quantitative developer, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was promoted to lead equities tech in September 2019.
Prior to Stan Chart he worked as a quantitative developer at banks including JP Morgan, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch, according to TDX’s website. He specialises in “system design and implementation for pricing and risk management of vanilla as well as exotic derivatives”.
Kwok is not the only recent hire that TDX has made. Last month Jake Choi, formerly a partner at Everest Ventures Group in Hong Kong, joined as vice president of sales and business development.
TDX’s other employees include chief compliance officer Christian Lamprecht, operations director Thomas Lam, business development professional Amber Urquhart, and sales and trading analyst Jessie Lo.
