Payroll Test Analyst / Engineer Your new company
A large enterprise organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Test Analyst / Engineer to join its Payroll Systems team. Your new role
As a Payroll Test Analyst / Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll and workforce management system rules are accurately configured, tested, and maintained in accordance with Awards, Enterprise Agreements, payroll legislation, and organisational policies.You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Technology teams, vendors, and key business stakeholders to deliver high-quality testing outcomes across payroll and workforce management initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing, validating, and testing payroll and workforce management system configurations and business rules.
• Developing and executing test plans, test cases, test scripts, workload models, and load-testing activities.
• Supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), regression testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Identifying system and integration risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
• Assessing Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretations to ensure payroll system compliance and payment accuracy.
• Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving payroll system issues, defects, and functionality errors.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation, testing artefacts, operational procedures, and support materials.
• Supporting payroll transformation and workforce management projects from a testing and quality assurance perspective.
• Conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and industrial relations requirements.
• Monitoring and improving payroll processes, controls, and service delivery standards.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and providing regular reporting on testing activities, risks, and outcomes.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance automation, efficiency, and system performance.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a Payroll Test Analyst, Test Engineer, Systems Test Analyst, Payroll Systems Analyst, or similar position.
• Strong experience testing payroll, workforce management, HRIS, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Knowledge of payroll legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and industrial relations frameworks.
• Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), regression testing, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Ability to create and execute comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, and test scripts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex payroll system issues.
• Experience identifying system integration risks and implementing effective controls.
• Strong documentation skills, including technical specifications, testing evidence, and process documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on compliance, quality, and operational excellence.
• Experience working within complex enterprise environments will be highly regarded.
