The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Trade Execution & Settlement:
• Manage the timely instruction, matching, and settlement of cash equities and associated post-trade products.
• Proactively monitor pending and failing trades, taking swift action to resolve bottlenecks.
• Risk & SBL Management:
• Coordinate Stock Borrowing and Lending (SBL) transactions to cover potential buy-ins and minimize market exposure across Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and U.S. markets.
• Formulate and execute rapid response strategies to manage and mitigate buy-in risks.
• Liquidity & Treasury Operations:
• Oversee daily cash management, funding allocation, and specialized pre-funding arrangements.
• Conduct daily trade matching with external counterparties.
• Investigate and resolve complex nostro and depot reconciliation breaks on a daily basis.
• Risk, Controls & Compliance:
• Identify, escalate, and resolve operational risks, ensuring strict adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a strong control environment to drive down settlement-related costs.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Serve as a key operational contact for clients, brokers, custodians, and internal support teams to facilitate frictionless settlements.
• Partner closely with Traders and Sales, escalating urgent issues and providing real-time settlement updates.
• Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with global affiliates and custodian banks.

Professional Skills & Competencies

• Product & Market Expertise: Deep operational understanding of Cash Equities, OTC Securities, and global settlement regimes (APAC, Northbound, and North America).
• Analytical Problem Solving: Strong focus on root-cause analysis to drive continuous process and workflow enhancements.
• Adaptability & Drive: Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulatory landscapes and market conditions while working effectively under pressure.
• Communication & Detail: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to work independently.
• Risk Mindset: Highly risk-conscious with a solid grasp of front-to-back operational controls.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in Cash Equities settlements and operations.
• System Proficiency: Practical, hands-on experience with clearing and settlement platforms, including CCASS, HKEX Client Connect, SWIFT, and Straight2Bank (or equivalent institutional portals).
• Preferred Skills: Prior exposure to Asian Investor ID regimes, Stock Borrowing & Lending (SBL) mechanics, FX, or Equity Derivatives is highly advantageous.
