We are partnering with a well-established banking institution to appoint a senior Special Assets Management professional to oversee a portfolio of classified, criticized, and stressed corporate credit exposures. This is a high-profile role with significant visibility across senior management, business units, and external stakeholders.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong experience in loan workout, restructuring, recovery, remedial management, distressed assets, NPL management, or corporate restructuring advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of special mention, classified, watchlist, and non-performing corporate credit exposures.
- Formulate and execute recovery, restructuring, and remediation strategies to maximize recoveries and minimize losses.
- Lead negotiations with borrowers, sponsors, legal advisors, financial advisors, and bank groups on restructuring and workout solutions.
- Assess restructuring proposals, refinancing plans, security packages, and recovery alternatives.
- Conduct detailed credit reviews, cash flow analysis, covenant assessments, collateral evaluations, and impairment recommendations.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks within stressed sectors and borrowers.
- Provide recommendations to senior management and relevant committees on recovery strategy, provisioning, and account classification.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Relationship Management, Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Operations.
- Oversee legal enforcement, restructuring, insolvency, receivership, or recovery actions where appropriate.
- Support policy enhancement, portfolio reporting, regulatory submissions, and governance initiatives.
- Degree holder in Finance, Accounting, Business or related disciplines.
- Minimum 15 years of banking, restructuring, special assets, recovery, workout, insolvency, or credit risk experience.
- Strong exposure to corporate, commercial banking, syndicated lending, structured finance, real estate, or China-related credits.
- Proven experience managing distressed situations, loan restructurings, recovery actions, or problem credit portfolios.
- Strong understanding of credit risk management, loan documentation, security structures, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience interacting with external stakeholders including legal advisors, restructuring professionals, liquidators, receivers, and bank groups.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate independently while influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred.
