As part of the digital technology team, this role will drive the evolution of business-critical platforms that support advisors, sales distribution, and customer engagement journeys. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture decisions, modernise digital capabilities, and lead the delivery of strategic technology initiatives across the organisation.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and enhancement of business-critical digital platforms that support advisor, agency, and distribution operations.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into scalable technology solutions.
- Drive the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, from solution planning and technical design through to implementation, release, and ongoing optimisation.
- Provide technical leadership for customer-facing and advisor-facing web and mobile applications, ensuring high standards of performance, usability, and reliability.
- Define application architecture and integration approaches across front-end, API, middleware, and backend components.
- Champion modern engineering practices, including Agile delivery, DevOps, automation, cloud adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Lead internal and external delivery teams, including vendors and offshore development partners, ensuring quality execution and alignment with project objectives.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, product owners, technology teams, and third-party providers to drive successful project outcomes.
- Facilitate solution discussions, technical workshops, and governance forums while effectively managing delivery risks, dependencies, and issues.
- Oversee application stability, production readiness, and operational excellence, ensuring systems meet performance and service expectations.
- Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous enhancement initiatives to improve platform resilience and user experience.
- Contribute to technology strategy, platform modernisation, and roadmap planning, identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and improve business capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in application development, digital platforms, or technology delivery within financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end delivery of large-scale digital, agency, distribution, or customer-facing platforms.
- Strong understanding of front-end application development using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing API-driven and microservices-based solutions.
- Hands-on knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and container technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native development.
- Experience managing external vendors, system integrators, and offshore development teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage business users, senior leadership, and technology teams effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to drive solution design, manage delivery risks, and influence technical decisions across complex environments.
- Knowledge of digital distribution, agency platforms, CRM, customer engagement, identity management, or authentication technologies would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
- Cantonese communication skills are preferred.
