The Personal Lines Billing team is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a strong Mainframe background and API experience to support and enhance critical backend billing systems.

This role is best suited for an experienced engineer who can contribute across a complex, highly integrated environment that spans core billing platforms, real-time APIs, batch jobs, and financial processing flows.

PLS Billing is a financially critical platform with high reliability expectations, and the team needs someone who can contribute as a builder, troubleshooter, and technical leader while protecting stability and delivery speed.

What You'll Do

Design, develop, and support secure, high-quality software solutions for Personal Lines Billing backend systems.

Work across Mainframe flows, batch processing, APIs, and downstream data consumers to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Partner across multiple teams and systems to implement changes in a highly interconnected billing environment.

Mentor team members and help elevate overall engineering quality, throughput, and technical decision-making.

Apply strong engineering judgment to protect platform stability, production quality, and operational reliability while moving work forward.

What You'll Bring

Mainframe skills

Strong experience with Mainframe development in COBOL, CICS, JCL, and DB2.

Deep understanding of backend system design, troubleshooting, and support in Mainframe-centered environments.

Ability to work effectively in environments where batch processing, financial accuracy, and system reliability are essential.

API and integration skills

Hands-on experience with REST APIs and API proxies.

Experience building or supporting Java and Spring Boot microservices in integrated backend ecosystems.

Ability to design and support solutions that connect Mainframe capabilities with modern API-based services.

Additional technical skills

GitHub experience.

Kafka experience.

JavaScript familiarity.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
