Our client, a Public Sector body based in Kildare, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join their team reporting to a Financial Controller.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Accounts:

• Maintain financial accounting systems and records
• Prepare monthly Accounts and Annual Financial Statements
• Plan for year-end cut off procedures, workload, etc.
• Explain variations from budget
• Deal with queries on annual accounts raised by auditors
• Deal with Internal Auditors
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial and other returns for Funding organisations
• Maintain and reconcile on a monthly basis all balance sheet accounts
• Prepare and submit tax returns, etc.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
• Assist the Financial Controller with day to day running and supervision of Finance department
• Supervision of the accounts payable and receivable areas

Budgeting/Costing:

• Liaise with Financial Controller in the areas of budgeting and costing; assist Financial Controller with preparation of annual budgets

Ad hoc Non Regular Duties:

• Assist Financial Controller with development of financial systems
• Capital grant claims
• Costing, ad hoc queries
• Assist Financial Controller with the management of upgrades of financial systems

Qualifications, Experience & Person Specification

Each candidate must be a qualified Accountant (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA). Candidates must ideally:

• Have excellent computer and keyboard skills
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication abilities
• Have proven organisational and administrative skills
• Have the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail
• Be able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions
• Be of good character

The working week is 35 hours with 30 days annual leave. This role is initially a contract with a view to permanency.
