Purpose of the Job
As a Business Development Manager/Director, you will be responsible for developing and securing new business opportunities that meet client requirements while maintaining high-quality service standards across target market sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate and secure sales opportunities to meet agreed-upon sales targets within the markets identified by the Business Development Director and Divisional Managing Director.
- Develop and maintain professional customer relationships with existing, new, and potential clients.
- Build mutual confidence in line with the agreed business strategy.
- Identify and build an active pipeline, exploring both existing markets and targeting new opportunities.
- Implement creative methods to develop new sources of profitable business.
- Take ownership of, develop, and deliver high-quality sales and tender documents and presentations, in line with Company standards.
- Generate tenders and relevant documentation, collaborating with specialist support functions (procurement, HR, QHS, etc.) as well as local managers and fellow Business Development professionals.
- Raise the company profile by representing CBRE at industry events and through professional networking.
- Stay informed regarding industry developments, maintaining awareness of competitor activity and market trends.
- Ensure the BU Leader is informed of all activities. Liaise regularly with the Sales Director to provide updates on sales activities and potential business opportunities.
- Ensure that specialist functions (e.g., HR, QHS, and Commercial) are advised of new potential business to ensure compliance.
- Adhere to appropriate sign-off protocols when considering new business opportunities.
- Maintain records and relevant contract documentation in support of tenders and re-bids.
- Manage all pre-qualifications promptly and professionally.
- Support re-bids and variations for existing clients.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience within a sales team in a managed services background - Preferably in Data Centres; however, M&E FM experience will be considered.
- Proven experience in sales and business development from a relevant background.
- Experience in creating high-quality sales documentation.
- Experience in successfully delivering professional presentations.
- Experience in engaging with a range of stakeholders, including site staff, suppliers, and customers.
- Focused on achieving targets and comfortable working in a high-intensity sales environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and methodical in approach.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of customer focus and promote a sense of team cooperation.
- Ability to influence others and build confidence in senior management through face-to-face, telephone, and written communication.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to prioritise demands and make decisions under pressure.
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing support to other areas of the business as required.
