Are you interested in a career in commercial law, but feel that the path to get there is not always accessible? Then the Stibbe Scholarship might be something for you. We offer ambitious law students in the final phase of their studies a professional network, personal guidance and financial support. In this way, we want to make the legal profession accessible to everyone with talent and ambition.

What is the Stibbe Scholarship?

Commercial law has a lot to offer: challenging work, professional growth and plenty of opportunities. But we also know that the sector is not equally accessible to everyone. Despite ambition and interest, we understand that there may be barriers that make it less likely for you to take the step towards a large law firm. Perhaps you lack the financial means to supplement your CV with an extra year of study, or you don't know enough people who have gone before you. With the Stibbe Scholarship, we want to change that.

As a large law firm, we believe it is important to contribute to equal opportunities. That is why, starting this year, we want to support ambitious students with a personal programme and a financial contribution. In this way, we hope to lower the threshold for getting to know a sector that you might otherwise pass by.

What exactly do we offer?

With the Stibbe Study Grant, you will receive:

• €5,000 for study-related expenses such as tuition fees, books or unforeseen expenses;
• Guidance from a personal mentor with whom you can discuss your future (a senior lawyer in your field of interest);
• A check-in at our office every two months;
• Access to a network of professionals who are eager to help you further.

Who is it for?

The Stibbe Scholarship is intended for talented and motivated students who are interested in commercial law but for whom that world does not feel natural or accessible. You want to develop and explore your options, but lack the opportunity to do so during your studies. If this sounds like you and you are in the final phase of your studies (third-year university bachelor's student, fourth-year higher professional education bachelor's student or master's student in law), we encourage you to apply.

How to apply

Please submit the following documents by 1 August 2025 at the latest:

• A motivation letter with a short personal introduction;
• Your CV with your education, work experience, internships and extracurricular activities;
• Your study results (transcripts, etc.);
• A short budget: how would you spend the scholarship?

Selection procedure

1. You can apply until 1 August 2025;
2. In the week of 11 August, you will hear whether you have been invited for an interview, which will take place in the week of 25 August;
3. In the week of 1 September, you will hear whether you have been awarded the scholarship.
