About the role

This role exists to build the data models that power IG's next-generation analytics platform and to deliver the technical migration of our business-critical dashboards to Looker. You will turn raw data into trusted, self-service insight that business users across IG can act on.

About the team

You will join the Business Intelligence team, which acts as the centre of excellence for analytics across IG - making data, insight, and action usable across the whole business, from self-service dashboards to the AI agents and co-pilots that deliver value to business users and clients.

You will work in cross-functional squads alongside data engineers, analytics engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, delivering measurable value within focused sprint cycles. As a member of the Analytics Engineering Chapter, you will develop your skills alongside peers and rotate between squads based on business priorities - from operational-efficiency dashboards one sprint to marketing segmentation or product personalisation the next. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable, well-documented data models in dbt that enable self-service analytics for business users across IG.
• Deliver the migration of business-critical dashboards to Looker, rebuilding and modelling in LookML to ensure a clean, reliable transition.
• Translate business requirements from stakeholders across functions into efficient, trusted data models.
• Contribute to the development of AI agents, co-pilots, and automated insights that surface data directly to users.
• Safeguard data integrity through robust testing frameworks, documentation, and data quality practices.
• Partner with data engineering to optimise the underlying data pipeline architecture.
• Share modelling best practice with peers across the Analytics Engineering Chapter.

What you'll need for this role

• Three or more years' experience in analytics engineering or a similar data role.
• Expert SQL and data modelling, with a track record of building scalable solutions.
• Strong proficiency with dbt, including testing frameworks and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with Looker and LookML, or a comparable BI and semantic modelling tool.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms, particularly Google BigQuery.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate their needs into technical solutions.

Desirable skills

• Python for data processing and analysis.
• Experience with data visualisation and dashboarding tools.
• Familiarity with AI and how it can be applied to analytics products.
• Experience working in cross-functional, squad-based delivery teams.
