A leading Financial Services organisation is looking to appoint a Java Developer to join an established Agile engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing a suite of enterprise applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developer with a couple of years commercial Java experience who enjoys building high-quality software in a collaborative environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, contributing across the full software development lifecycle and helping to deliver modern, scalable solutions that support key business functions.
The role is predominantly remote, with one day per week in the Leicester office. It is offering a base of £60,000 + excellent benefits.
The Role
- Develop, enhance and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions and Agile ceremonies.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
- Produce technical documentation and maintain appropriate unit test coverage.
- Work with SQL and relational databases to support analysis, troubleshooting and impact assessments.
What We're Looking For
- Around 2+ years of commercial Java development experience.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring.
- Good understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and web services, including REST and SOAP.
- Knowledge of JSON, XML, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience using Git or GitHub for source control.
- Experience working within an Agile environment.
Desirable
- Spring Boot and Microservices.
- SQL and relational databases.
- Exposure to Test Driven Development (TDD) or Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
