A leading global specialty insurer is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Capital Modelling Manager to join its actuarial and risk function. This is a high-profile opportunity for a qualified actuary to play a pivotal role in the oversight, delivery and development of capital modelling across a complex insurance business, while working closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and effective risk management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the production of regulatory and economic capital requirements across a portfolio of managed insurance entities. The role will involve leading capital modelling processes, ensuring models remain fit for purpose, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continual model enhancement in line with evolving business needs and industry best practice.
Working across the organisation, you will present model outputs and insights to boards, committees, senior management teams, regulators and external stakeholders. You will also play a key role in embedding capital model use within business decision-making, providing education, challenge and insight to stakeholders while helping to ensure a consistent approach to risk assessment across the organisation.
The position offers broad exposure to underwriting, reinsurance, investment and strategic planning activities. You will support the optimisation of the business's risk profile through capital allocation, portfolio analysis, reinsurance structure assessment, earnings volatility analysis and risk appetite monitoring. In addition, you will contribute to ORSA production, stress and scenario testing, strategic projects and the ongoing development of capital modelling capabilities across the business.
Candidates should be qualified actuaries with a strong background in general insurance and demonstrable experience in capital modelling within the Lloyd's or London Market environment. You will have expertise in stochastic modelling techniques, experience managing complex projects and delivering high-quality outputs, and the confidence to engage with and influence senior stakeholders. A sound understanding of the Solvency UK framework is essential.
Experience overseeing Lloyd's SCR production, engaging with regulators, supporting portfolio optimisation initiatives or driving strategic model use would be highly advantageous. Exposure to Igloo or similar capital modelling software, together with programming skills such as Python or SQL, would also be beneficial.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing global insurer in a role that offers significant visibility, strategic influence and the chance to shape the future direction of capital management within the business.
