Loss Adjuster - Blade Technician
Job Description
The Renewables team handles claims ranging from minor damage to catastrophic events both onshore and offshore. As a Technical Adjuster you'll be assigned to a Senior Adjuster handling cases requiring your specific expertise. The role is predominantly office based (with up to 2 days p/wk from home) with travel to sites as required and potentially overnight stays depending upon location.
The team is predominantly based in the London hub with access to other Crawford Adjusters around the world as and when required. You will be the blade expert that other offices and adjusters defer to.
You will report to the UK Head of Renewables (on a daily basis) and the Global Head of Renewables for international business.
Responsibilities
You'll support our Adjusters as a Technical go-to, in progressing a caseload of Renewables claims, although we expect mainly wind/blade based claims from lightning strikes to catastrophic failures to transit damage or manufacturing defects. These can vary in complexity so it's essential that you have a deep understanding of your field and can relate to the points of view of the Insured, O&M and Insurers.
Each situation will require your field-based knowledge and expertise in investigating the cause(s) and reaching agreement on either the extent and cost of repairs and/or replacement. Each claim will require tact and professionalism as you talk to site staff, engineers, owners, O&M's while establishing the facts and move toward resolution alongside the Adjuster.
We will put you in front of Clients to enhance existing relationships and build their confidence in you, through technical presentations in addition to proactive Client and Broker interactions while you assist in claims handling.
You'll also be liaising with colleagues within different business areas, such as CFAS, Engineering, Environmental and Marine depending upon the nature of the claim, so attention to detail is essential to ensure each step of the claims process is as thorough as possible, collating and analysing all necessary information as required.
You'll need to remove hurdles in the process if required, ensuring you get to the root cause of issues, take responsibility to resolve problems and understand nuances and details and be able to explain it all in layman's terms.
Qualifications
Essential:
You will be a wind turbine blade expert.
Possibly having learnt on the job, or through a suitable qualification; your experience will be field and/or manufacturing facility based.
Desirable:
Our clients need to be comfortable that you have been there, done it and lived all things blades.
