Project Manager
Introduction
Our client is a leading defence company delivering advanced research, development, and technical solutions to government and industry, with expertise across communications, sensors, and information assurance. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support multiple defence projects, responsible for defining scope, planning, budgeting, managing resources, and leading teams to deliver complex hardware and software programmes. The role requires strong stakeholder management, risk control, and commercial awareness, working across the full project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
Working Patterns and location - This is a hybrid role with 2 days on site per week.

Key responsibilities
- Provide project management support across multiple defence projects, ensuring continuity and delivery.
- Work with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and key deliverables from the outset.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resources to keep work on track.
- Oversee budgets, monitor spend, and make adjustments to stay within financial limits.
- Lead and coordinate project teams, driving collaboration and resolving any issues that arise.
- Manage risks, track progress, communicate updates to stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered to quality standards through to completion.
Skills & experience
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Proven track record delivering complex hardware and software projects (up to £5m) from concept through to delivery.
- Confident managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments, with strong risk, financial, and commercial awareness.
- Experience working with the UK Ministry of Defence and leading projects within defence or similarly regulated sectors.
- Effective team leadership skills, with relevant project management qualifications (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP, PMI or Agile), and exposure to bid or proposal work desirable
