A leading technology firm serving the quantitative trading and capital markets industry is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join its data systems team. This is a hybrid opportunity focused on building high-performance systems that process, validate, transform, and distribute large volumes of real-time market data.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on backend infrastructure, performance-sensitive applications, event-driven systems, and data-intensive platforms where reliability and correctness are critical.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop Java-based components for high-throughput data processing systems
- Build solutions that transform, validate, and normalize time-series and event-driven datasets
- Enhance platform performance, reliability, observability, and test coverage
- Investigate and resolve production issues related to data quality, latency, throughput, and system behavior
- Partner closely with domain experts, platform engineers, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on Java development experience
- Background building backend services, distributed systems, or data-processing platforms
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design
- Experience working with multithreaded, asynchronous, or performance-sensitive applications
- Familiarity with streaming, event-driven, time-series, or large-scale data systems
- Exposure to cloud environments, monitoring/observability tools, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Comfortable with Linux/Unix environments, SQL, Python, and scripting tools
Nice to Have
- Experience within financial markets, trading technology, exchanges, or other high-volume data environments
- Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Protobuf, gRPC, Parquet, REST APIs, and related tooling
