Description
As an R&D Tax Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and delivering Research & Development (R&D) tax credit claims for a diverse range of clients. You will work closely with business owners, finance teams, and technical experts to identify qualifying R&D activities, manage the claim process, and ensure that claims are compliant with HMRC guidelines. Your role will involve both technical advisory and tax compliance work, with a strong focus on adding value to clients through efficient claim strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Identification of qualifying R&D projects and corresponding expenditure through participation in technical discussions with clients.
• Technical assessment of projects in line with HMRC R&D tax relief guidelines and preparation of supporting technical documentation.
• Authoring compelling technical reports in accordance with the HMRC's BEIS guidelines to portray the key technical factors of client projects to support the R&D claim.
• Interaction with clients' senior technical staff to develop a comprehensive understanding of the projects undertaken and review in the light of HMRC's R&D Tax Relief Guidelines.
• Staying abreast of industry developments and legislative changes relevant to R&D tax relief and other innovation incentives to further your knowledge and capabilities.
• Maintaining contact with prospects and converting these to clients.
• Providing weekly & monthly updates on claims progress to the Directors.
• Networking with colleagues internally across the group to promote R&D Tax Box.
• Support the Marketing Manager by writing articles and case studies, supporting at various events, providing social media and website updates.
Key Requirements
• Demonstrable technical knowledge of R&D tax relief, with experience in a specialist R&D firm or other accountancy practice.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
• Strong attention to technical detail and first-time accuracy is essential.
• Interaction with other technical professionals, outstanding people skills and the ability to clearly & concisely summarise information.
• An excellent working knowledge of UK Corporate Tax legislation and the interaction with an R&D Tax claim.
Additional Requirements
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Good attention to detail and organisation, and a proactive and enthusiastic attitude are essential.
• Experienced and capable using tax software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support decision-making in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
