About the role

In your role as Compliance Advisory, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to be a member of the Compliance Team as a second line function, to assist with a range of compliance matters, including managing compliance systems, and both Public Markets and Private Markets advisory.

You will administer compliance owned policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as monitor and report on the FCA regulatory horizon as are relevant to the business of USSIM.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Group Risk and Funding team you will be responsible for:

1. Building a close working relationship with each of the USSIM business units to support Compliance matters as required.
2. Working principally with the Head of USSIM Public Markets Compliance Advisory, and Head of Private Markets Compliance Advisory, and other members of the Compliance Team - as required, to support the provision of Compliance support to USSIM Public, and Private Markets Groups.
3. Assisting, and providing support with the Compliance team (as a second-line of defence) as follows:
4. Support ongoing surveillance of the activities of the Public Markets Group in relation to key regulatory processes, including: MAR surveillance, sanctions lists, shareholding disclosures and filings, position limits, exceptions reporting, and maintenance of IT systems to manage these.
5. Support the management of engagement with USS’s approved expert networks.
6. Assist with the management of incoming market soundings.
7. Assist with the management of the restricted list, and management of insider lists.
8. Suport with regulatory filings to the FCA and the SEC.
9. Management of Compliance workflows and the integration of a new reg tech system.
10. Assist with the management of reverse KYC requests.
11. Updating and drafting policies, procedures and the USSIM Compliance Manual.
12. Assist with the maintenance of records relating to the Senior Management and Certification Regime.
13. Delivery of new joiner Compliance training.

About you

To be successful in the role you will have:

1. Thorough knowledge of the UK regulatory framework.
2. Willingness to develop relationships at all levels in delivering pragmatic and proportionate compliance support, monitoring and training solutions within USSIM’s Public and, Private Markets Groups.
3. A good understanding of public market asset classes; including equity, credit, fixed income, derivatives and alternative investments.
4. Demonstrable experience of Public Markets Compliance.
5. Demonstrable experience of dealing with the regulatory change agenda, and in particular impact of Public Markets.
6. Working knowledge of Bloomberg and FundApps or other equivalent systems for monitoring Public Markets compliance.
7. Familiarity with Private Markets Compliance.
8. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or industry qualification (such as CISI).
9. Excellent working knowledge of FCA rules and industry best practice relating to:
10. FCA Conduct of Business rules, including best execution
11. MiFID II rules
12. Guideline and limit monitoring
13. Market Abuse surveillance, including insider dealing and market soundings
14. Shareholder disclosures and position limits
15. Conflicts of Interest, including research arrangements
16. Some knowledge of other relevant regulatory frameworks, including in Europe and the U.S.
