Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Functional Analyst with experience gathering and documenting business requirements, creating user stories and process maps, and facilitating stakeholder discussions. The role supports Agile delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning, and UAT, while working closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA Analysts, Data Engineers, and Solution Architects on reporting, analytics, and data-focused initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Transportation Analytics Program, delivering enterprise analytics and data initiatives across transit planning, operations, asset management, predictive maintenance, and corporate services.
• Lead requirements gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for development teams.
• Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, and Agile delivery.
• Analyze current business processes, perform As-Is/To-Be process mapping, workflow analysis, and gap assessments to identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop and maintain project documentation including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process maps, workflow diagrams, functional specifications, and Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, business stakeholders, Data Engineers, Software Developers, QA Analysts, and Solution Architects to define, design, and deliver technology solutions.
• Support data analysis activities, including data mapping, business rules validation, and defining reporting and business intelligence requirements.
• Participate in solution design discussions to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and enterprise standards.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing test scenarios, test cases, validating business requirements, and assisting with defect resolution.
• Manage requirements traceability and ensure project deliverables align with TransLink governance and documentation standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support multiple analytics initiatives as project priorities evolve.
• Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of Functional Analyst or Business Analyst experience, strong Agile/SAFe experience, hands-on Azure DevOps, Microsoft Visio proficiency, and experience supporting enterprise technology, analytics, reporting, or digital transformation projects.
