Major Duties :• Manages several Technology Risk units and/or functions. Establishes performance standards for the unit. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and career development needs.
• Approves Information Security, (IS), architecture/designs, plans, controls, processes, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with IS standards and overall IS strategy.
• Directs the development of techniques and procedures for conducting IS risk assessments and compliance audits, the evaluation and testing of hardware, firmware and software for possible impact on system security, and the investigation and resolution of security incidents.
• Advises management on security effectiveness and recommends enhancements.
• Develops, implements, and communicates an overall strategy to meet both the business unit's and the corporation's strategic plan and priorities. Directs the activities of the area towards accomplishing those objectives.
• Determines staffing needs, makes hiring and firing decisions, handles salary administration, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities. Develops and manages diversity programs for the unit.
• Follows through to ensure that objectives are met.
• Develops unit(s) budget and manages the expenses for the unit.
• Develops risk management and compliance programs and activities for the unit.
Knowledge :• Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with client, IT management and staff, vendors and consultants.
• Applies broad industry knowledge and commercial awareness to drive financial performance
• Negotiates with senior leaders across the business
Experience :• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 10 plus years of experience in Information Security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocols preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Salary Range:
$137,400 - 240,400 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
