The Opportunity
An established organisation is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its collaborative finance team during an exciting period of growth, transformation and system implementation.
This is an initial six-month contract with potential to extend. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of core financial accounting activities while partnering with senior stakeholders and contributing to meaningful process improvements.
The Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing month-end close, accruals, reporting and financial analysis
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and processing depreciation
- Calculating and reconciling government receipts
- Completing project and statement-of-receipts reconciliations
- Monitoring cash-flow requirements and preparing forecasts
- Ensuring compliance with GST, FBT and payroll tax obligations
- Managing and maintaining financial master data
- Preparing quarterly and annual compliance reports
- Ensuring accounting procedures align with relevant accounting standards
- Developing and improving finance systems, policies and procedures
- Partnering with business managers and senior stakeholders
- Supporting quarterly balance sheet reviews and governance processes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- CA or CPA qualification, or be close to completing your qualification
- Two to five years' accounting or audit experience
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting knowledge
- Excellent communication and senior stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities
- Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills
- A proactive approach and genuine interest in improving processes
Candidates making their first move from audit, as well as those with commercial experience, are encouraged to apply.
Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics or a similar ERP would be highly regarded. Exposure to Power BI would also be advantageous.
