Compliance Officer - AML / Payments
Sydney | $120,000-$130,000 + super
A growing financial services business is looking for a Compliance Officer to join its Australian team, with a strong focus on AML/CTF compliance within a payments environment.
This is a hands-on Line 2 compliance role with the opportunity to step into the MLRO position and play a key role in strengthening the Australian compliance framework.
The Role
- Manage Line 2 AML/CTF compliance across the Australian business
- Oversee AML transaction monitoring, investigations and suspicious matter reporting
- Review AML risks, controls, CDD/EDD and compliance processes
- Provide practical regulatory advice to the business
- Monitor regulatory changes and identify compliance gaps
- Work with senior stakeholders and regulators including AUSTRAC and ASIC
- Support policies, procedures, regulatory reporting and AML training
About You
- Experience in payments, fintech, banking or financial services
- Strong experience in AML/CTF and transaction monitoring
- Proven Line 2 compliance experience
- Strong understanding of AUSTRAC and Australian AML/CTF requirements
- Experience with SMRs and AML investigations
- MLRO, Deputy MLRO or senior AML experience highly desirable
- Adaptable, flexible and comfortable in a fast-moving environment
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
