Morgan McKinley are representing a boutique but growing non-bank lender specialising in commercial real estate and construction funding that are seeking an experienced Credit Manager to join their Sydney office.
Working directly with the Head of Credit, you will assess, structure, and manage transactions across residential, commercial, and industrial property while guiding the origination team and driving approvals. This role is ideal for a seasoned credit professional looking for their next challenge in a high-impact position within a thriving lender.
Whilst we're ideally looking for a Credit Manager, we're also open to an experienced Senior Credit Analyst. Please note, this role requires 5 days in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of real estate loan applications, structuring terms, LVRs, pricing, and covenants to mitigate credit risk.
- Critically review feasibility models, QS reports, valuations, planning approvals, and exit strategies to assess overall transaction viability.
- Draft detailed, high-quality Credit Memos with clear recommendations and present transactions to the Investment Committee for approval.
- Lead loan files from initial origination guidance through conditional approval, satisfaction of conditions precedent, and settlement.
- Monitor post-settlement performance, handle loan variation requests, and execute appropriate mitigation or workout strategies for emerging credit risks.
Requirements:
- 4+ years' direct experience in real estate credit underwriting within property development, construction, and commercial lending.
- Comprehensive understanding of the commercial real estate landscape across residential, industrial, and commercial property subclasses.
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, debt servicing evaluation, risk identification, and complex loan structuring.
- Proven capability to analyse third-party reports and translate complex data into actionable credit decisions.
- Exceptional written credit paper presentation, stakeholder management skills, and a curious mindset suited to an agile environment.
