Our client is a leading life insurer building modern data, analytic, and digital capabilities across multiple markets in the region.
The Data Modeller will be owning the design of enterprise and domain data models for a leading insurer covering policy, customer, product, claims, and finance. Models will support reporting, operations, analytic, and AI.
- Lead modelling from requirements and subject-area analysis through mapping and validation
- Create conceptual, logical, and physical models with clear entities, keys, relationships, grain, history, and business rules
- Design dimensional, normalised, canonical, and data-product schemas to fit each use case
- Work with BAs and SMEs to confirm definitions, ownership, and model scope
- Align designs to the enterprise data model, glossary, MDM/reference data standards, and governance policies
- Review source systems, find overlaps or gaps, and recommend reusable patterns that avoid double counting
- Work with engineers to implement models in databases, lake house tables, API's, events, and semantic layers
- Define data quality, lineage, classification, retention, and sensitive-data controls with governance and security
- Keep model repositories, naming standards, version history, and documentation up to date
Your Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field (postgraduate qualification a plus)
- 5+ years in data modelling, data architecture, data warehousing, BI, or data engineering
- Proven experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical models for enterprise solutions
- Insurance experience strongly preferred (policy, product, customer, agent, claims, billing, payments, actuarial, or reinsurance)
- Experience working with both business and technology teams in a regulated environment is an advantage
Technical skills
- Strong relational, dimensional, and canonical modelling (including normalisation and SCDs)
- Able to define grain, keys, relationships, history, and reconciliation controls
- Hands-on with erwin, ER/Studio, or similar modelling tools
- Strong SQL, including data profiling to validate model design
- Working knowledge of metadata, business glossaries, lineage, data quality, MDM, and reference data
- Cloud/lake house experience (Azure, AWS, Databricks, Delta Lake, EDW) is an advantage
- Familiarity with batch, API, and event structures (JSON, Avro, Kafka) is an advantage
