We're helping our bank client to look for a Procurement Specialist with quantity surveying expertise, capable candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of procurement activities related to office renovation projects and/or data centre relocation with a strong focus on cost control, vendor management, and contract negotiation. This role will leverage quantity surveying skills to optimize procurement strategies and support project teams in achieving timely, within-budget, and high-quality project delivery. The Specialist will play a critical role in managing relationships with main contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cost Management and Control:
- Prepare and analyze tender documents, bid proposals, and contractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and value for money.
- Perform cost analysis and value engineering to identify potential savings without compromising quality or project scope.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
- Procurement and Vendor Management:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for materials, equipment, and services required for renovation projects, working in conjunction with Calibra for initial sourcing.
- Compare and analyze vendor/subcontractor bid-day quotes and proposals, conducting strong negotiations to secure the most favorable terms and pricing.
- Communicate effectively with main contractors, subcontractors, and vendors regarding project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive procurement log for subcontractor and vendor material(s)/equipment.
- Evaluate vendor performance and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality service and timely delivery.
- Contract Management:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and administering contracts with contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including payment schedules, variations, and claims.
- Manage and resolve any contractual issues or disputes that may arise during the project.
- Project Support and Coordination:
- Participate in regular project meetings to provide procurement and cost-related insights.
- Review and coordinate with end-user requirements to ensure procurement aligns with operational needs and Procurement standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education and Certifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS, HKIS) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in procurement, quantity surveying, or cost management within the construction or corporate fit-out industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing procurement for commercial renovation, interior design, corporate fit-out, or data center relocation projects is essential.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional negotiation skills are critical for this role, alongside excellent conflict resolution and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors/contractors.
- Proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
