We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer to join a technology team within a leading financial services organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and enhancing backend applications and financial platforms, with a strong focus on Java, Spring Boot and scalable enterprise solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance systems supporting critical business functions.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
- Build scalable and reliable financial applications while ensuring performance, security and maintainability.
- Integrate backend systems with internal platforms and external services to support efficient data flows.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following engineering best practices.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and CI/CD processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development and production environments.
- Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Support application releases, change management activities and post-production implementation.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development.
- Good knowledge of Core Java, including collections, concurrency, JSON, JDBC and related libraries.
- Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC templates and messaging frameworks (JMS preferred).
- Experience developing enterprise applications and integrating complex systems.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, code review and CI/CD processes.
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and scripting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working in an Agile development environment with global teams.
- Experience working within financial services, banking or capital markets technology.
- Exposure to high-volume transaction systems or enterprise platforms.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
