Our client, a globally renowned hedge fund at the forefront of quantitative investing and electronic trading, is seeking a Trading Systems Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing, and evolving the critical infrastructure that underpins its high-performance trading platforms. This is a highly visible front-office opportunity, where you will work directly with traders and engineering teams to enhance the performance, scalability, resilience, and functionality of world-class low-latency trading systems.
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience developing high-performance, multi-threaded C++ applications within a low-latency trading environment, alongside a deep understanding of distributed systems, networking, and real-time performance optimisation. Beyond technical excellence, you will possess strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver innovative solutions in a fast-paced, mission-critical trading environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise low-latency trading systems using C++.
- Build and maintain high-performance, multi-threaded trading applications.
- Enhance trading infrastructure to improve performance, scalability and stability.
- Partner with traders, business users and technology teams to deliver strategic solutions.
- Support the deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of production trading platforms.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting, building or engineering infrastructure within a low-latency trading environment.
- Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, distributed systems and performance optimisation.
- Experience working with cloud technologies, infrastructure automation and modern DevOps/SRE practices.
- Proven track record designing and maintaining scalable, resilient and highly available production platforms.
- Experience with monitoring, observability and incident management within mission-critical environments.
- Knowledge of low-latency systems, electronic trading platforms or high-performance financial technology environments.
