Salaries at OCBC in Singapore: what you're likely to get paid

If you’re contemplating applying to OCBC, Singapore’s second largest bank, now may be a good time to do so. Record earnings from OCBC’s banking franchise drove net profit to S$1.22bn for the second quarter of 2019, and the firm added 643 employees in the year to end-June, taking its workforce to 30,255.

Perhaps just as importantly from a job seeker perspective, pay per head (i.e. total employee expenditure divided by total headcount) at OCBC surged by more than 10% year-on-year to reach S$23,566 in Q2, according to data calculated from OCBC’s latest financial results.

These average pay figures, however, apply across the bank and across geographies. If you want to work for OCBC in Singapore in a front-office job within its Global Corporate/Investment Banking (GCIB) division, you’ll probably want to have a rough idea of how much OCBC pays at your level of seniority.

To find out more about front-office salaries in GCIB at OCBC in Singapore, we looked through pay figures on Glassdoor across the four seniority levels that the website has sufficient data for: analyst, management associate, assistant vice president, and vice president.

Pay at OCBC obviously varies from person to person, so the figures in the table below are not definitive and should be treated as approximate guidance. Moreover, we only reviewed high-range Singapore salaries and cash bonuses at OCBC, because they best reflect the (comparatively high) earnings of front-office employees in the Global Corporate/Investment Banking unit.

OCBC did not respond to a request to comment on its Singapore compensation.

How much will your salary be at OCBC in Singapore?

If you’re working at analyst level in the front office in OCBC’s GCIB team, the self-reported Glassdoor figures indicate that your annual base salary should be in the region of S$60k, although your exact pay will depend on your specific job function and the number of years you’ve been an analyst.

If you join OCBC as a Singapore-based management associate, the approximate Glassdoor data suggests you should expect to be paid about S$73k a year in a front-office job.

Larger pay increases appear to take place as you move into the middle ranks in GCIB. OCBC’s front-office assistant vice presidents (AVPs) take home around S$132k. Meanwhile, the high-range base salary for vice presidents (VPs) at OCBC in Singapore is S$250k, according to Glassdoor’s approximate figures.
