Standard Chartered Singapore hires MD from Jefferies
Standard Chartered has appointed Rohan Thakrar as head of flow credit trading east.
Thakrar joined at managing director level earlier this month, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He previously spent seven years at Jefferies as an MD and head of credit trading Asia.
Prior to that Thakrar was a 17-year RBS veteran and worked for the firm in London, Tokyo and Singapore, rising to become an MD and head of credit trading for Asia.
Thakrar is not the only big hire that Standard Chartered has made recently in Singapore, a hub for many of its most senior jobs globally.
As we reported last month, Standard Chartered hired Shiva Natarajan, formerly of UBS, as executive director and relationship manager.
The bank’s Singapore office also has a penchant for hiring from consultancy firms to fill Singapore-based strategy roles. Among the latest consultants to join Stan Chart in the city state is Lit Hau Tan, who previously spent about nine years at McKinsey, and is now a managing director at Stan Chart, focused on growth, strategy and business development in transaction banking.
