DBS head leaves for top job Down Under
Veteran technologist Kiron Venkatesha has left DBS in Singapore to become Westpac’s Sydney-based chief architect.
Venkatesha spent about four and a half years at the Singaporean lender as regional head of strategy architecture engineering and site reliability engineering (SRE) for its consumer banking group, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He joined Australian bank Westpac in January.
His earlier career was largely spent within the tech sector, including two stints at IBM, most recently as a digital transformation consultant for cloud application innovation, based in Singapore.
Venkatesha’s skill set – which includes digital innovation, big data analytics, cloud architecture, and risk management – will be missed at DBS and within the Singapore financial services sector.
Banks such as Standard Chartered, Citi, OCBC and DBS itself are all hiring senior technology professionals in these areas – and talent is in short supply.
