Citadel Securities quant that avoided pandemonium resurfaces at UBS
Quitting banking for a top trading firm may be the end goal for some, but seemingly not for Kyriakos Manolis. After leaving Barclays for Citadel Securities in 2022, the London-based quant trader has now moved back into banking.

Manolis said via LinkedIn yesterday that he is joining UBS in London as its EMEA head of USD rates trading. According to FINRA's BrokerCheck tool, he departed the electronic market maker in January 2025.
Manolis was a USD rates trader throughout his time at Citadel Securities, and held the role for three years at Barclays too. Prior to that, he worked in Singapore, as an algorithmic statistical arbitrage trader for Singaporean hedge fund Four Elements Capital.
Manolis, who may have been sitting out a non-compete, might be grateful that he was temporarily out of the market. Early Q2 was thought to be a particularly rough time for rates traders, as volatility led to both banks and hedge funds posting losses. The recovery is over for Manolis now, but more volatile times may yet ensue.
